CSV is the universal import format: almost every accounting system, ERP and database can read it. The difficulty is getting clean, consistent CSV out of PDFs that all look different. AlFasil reads each PDF and writes the data into the same columns every time.
Clean, predictable columns
- Amounts are plain numbers with a dot as the decimal separator (
1680.50), whatever the invoice used —1.680,50,1,680.50or Arabic digits. - Dates are
YYYY-MM-DDby default, orDD/MM/YYYY/MM/DD/YYYYif your system prefers. - Currencies are ISO codes (
AED,SAR,EUR). - Text cells that start with
=,+,-or@are escaped so a malicious invoice can’t inject a spreadsheet formula.
Your columns, your order
If the standard layout doesn’t match your system, choose My own columns in the export dialog: pick fields, rename headers, add fixed values (for example a default expense account), and save the layout for next time.
Multi-page and multi-invoice PDFs
A multi-page invoice is treated as one document. If a single PDF contains several separate invoices — common with scanned batches — AlFasil splits them into separate rows.
Text PDFs and scanned PDFs
AlFasil doesn’t depend on the PDF having a text layer. Scanned PDFs work the same way as digital ones.
